The fairy tale of the self-made man, woman, or person is hear throughout our lives. Numerous great people are used as a shining example of self-made. We are led to believe that if we work hard enough, we can achieve anything on our own. And while this may be true to some extent, it's not the whole story. Success is only possible with the help of others. Your community will help you thrive if you let them. They deserve to be celebrated for it.
We often celebrate those who achieve great things on their own. But we should also recognize the people who helped them get there. No one succeeds in life on their own. Life's a team sport. We all need someone to lean on sometimes. So don't be ashamed to ask for help when you need it. You're not weak for needing assistance - you're strong for seeking it out.
